Parental reactions to children's negative emotions and their relations to behavior problems in kindergarten
ŠIMONOVÁ, Sára Anne
In the theoretical part of the thesis the parent's reactions to children's negative emotions, in relation to their children's developmental outcomes and studies, are introduced. The other part of the thesis deals with the parental reactions in practice. The practical part consists of a quantitative study and the main purpose is to contribute to understanding some of the factors connected with children's problematic behavior in kindergarten. We assume that unsupportive parental reactions are related to problematic behavior. This assumption was verified using a questionnaire construction. The research sample consisted of a total of 41 respondents from 3 different kindergartens. Parental reactions to negative emotions of a child were evaluated by mothers using CCNES questionnaire. CBQ-VS was completed by mothers to assess their child's temperament. Primary caregivers completed PKBS questionnaire about children's problematic behavior in kindergarten. The results indicated that there is a relation between mother-reported parental reactions to the negative emotion of a child and his/her problematic behavior. Child surgency is connected to externalizing problems. Some of our results differ from the conclusions of similar studies (e.g. no relation between maternal strategies and child's behavioral problems). This discrepancy could be caused by the small size of the research sample (data collection was disrupted by the state of emergency over COVID-19 declared by government). Thus, further research with a larger sample and standardized questionnaires is merited.
Teachers' and schoolmates' reactions to pupils' problem behavior
VOLMUTOVÁ, Simona
This bachelor thesis deals with problem or disorder behavior of primary school children and resulting teachers and classmates reactions. In the theoretical part I describe the difference between problematic and disorder behavior, I introduce the characteristics of discipline and behavioral disorders. I define basic terms like etiology, classification, prevention and behavioral disorder therapy. The last chapter of the theoretical part mentions institutions cooperating with the schools regarding this issue. The practical part shows the results of my observations and interviews. I tried to find out how this children problematic behavior manifests itself during the classes, whether they themselves are aware of it, whether their classmates notice it, and how they eventually react to it. I examined the same for teachers, i.e. what behavior disturbs them during lessons and how they react to it. I have found that classmates perceived problematic students, sometimes they also mind their behavior because they cannot concentrate on teaching. But this is not a reason for them to separate them from the group, on the contary, they are mostly friends with them. Teachers resent the insolence, vulgar expression and inappropriate alerting on yourself. The teacher must find a suitable way for each pupil to solve problems with him.
Analysis of the educational needs of pupils with behavioral problems
Papoušková, Kateřina ; Mertin, Václav (advisor) ; Čáp, David (referee)
My bachelor's thesis is entitled "Analysis of the educational needs of pupils with behavioral problems". It iconsists of a literary survey of the field and a research proposal following the conclusions of the theoretical part of the work. Last mentioned is divided into three parts. The first one is dealing with educational needs of students (meaning needs of all pupils). The second one defines a group of students, which we refer to as "students with behavioral problems." And the third part analyzes their educational needs. Results of mentioned parts imply the need to focus on creating an school environment, which will prevent behavioral problems of pupils. Presented research proposal deals with mapping ways of doing that. Keywords: Problem behavior, Behavioral disorders, Educational needs, Inclusion
